Facebook planning to become more enhance by introducing Twitter’s Hashtag
In an unprecedented turn of events reports have been flowing in about Facebook’s decision of adapting Twitter’s “hashtag” system. Facebook is now working on ways to integrate the hashtag method of linking groups to certain discussions or topics into it’s social website. At the present moment it is possible to tag specific people in threads on facebook but you can’t see what facebook users have to say about the threads or discussions themselves.
Instagram which was bought by Facebook last year for 1 billion dollars also uses the hashtag system. Instagram which is primarily a picture oriented social media website allows users to tag each other to specific photos or galleries through the use of a hashtag. It is also speculated that if Facebook does go along with the hashtag system, people will stay on Facebook longer than what is already assumed.
The hashtag system won’t be coming to Facebook in the near future, as reported by a wall street reporter saying “It is unclear how far along Facebook’s work on the hashtag is and the feature isn’t likely to be introduced imminently”. When reports approached Facebook regarding the integration of the hashtag system, a Facebook spokesman said “We do not comment on rumor or speculation”.
Facebook is regularly updated with new content, such as the recent introduction of a refined timeline system that allows you to see specific items in your newsfeed. The timeline was also reworked to depict the group status on the left and apps and other content on the right side.
