Custom ROMs are rather easy to install and don’t take a lot of effort if you are experienced at it. However if you are new at rooting, and installing custom ROMs it may be more of a hassle for you. Getting to know what purpose ROMs serve for smartphones is also very important. You will need to know the advantages and disadvantages of installing a custom ROM before you decide to actually do it. So let us now go over some of the advantages and disadvantages of custom ROMs!

Now that we have gone over the basics of Custom ROMS, let us discuss about how we should install the CM10.1 ROM on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-1535! One thing you should keep in mind is that any damage done to your device by following this tutorial is completely your responsibility, we hold no liability whatsoever. Now that is made clear, let us get into the steps you will need to follow to install the custom ROM!
1: First off you must download the Rom package which you can find here. After downloading the ROM package you must also download Google Apps which you can find here. Now you must also make sure that you ClockworkMOD installed on your device.
2: Connect your Samsung Galaxy S3 to your computer via USB cable. Make sure that you have USB drivers for your device installed!
3: Copy paste both the ROM package and Google apps file to your SD card.
4: Disconnect your smartphone from the computer and turn off your smartphone.
5: You will now have to put your phone into recovery mode which you can do holding down the volume up, home and power buttons together.
6: Once you are in recovery mode you will need to do a clean sweep of all the data on your phone. You can do this by selecting the wipe data/factory reset option in recovery mode.
7: After that you must also clear out your cache by selecting the “clear cache partition” option.
8: Now go back into CWM and navigate down to “flash ZIP from SD card”. Select that option using the power key!
9: Using the volume keys navigate to the ROM package you had placed into your SD card and select it using the power key!
10: After you select the ROM package the installation will commence, wait for the process to complete!
11: After the installation has completed select the “+++++Go back” option. Now select the “Reboot system now” to restart your phone.
12: Repeat steps eight to eleven for Google Apps!
