HTC Evo 3D vs Samsung Galaxy S II (Specs and Features)

Comparison between HTC Evo 3D and Samsung Galaxy S II Samsung and HTC have had their bid in the smart phone race for quite some time now. Releasing phones that change the face of how the smart phone game is played. They certainly act as role models for other franchises to follow suit. Yet when comparing both to one another, how do they fair in terms of quality performance and power? Let’s take a look between the HTC Evo 3D and the Samsung Galaxy S2 to see which one stands out on top between these two smart phone giants.

Processor and RAM:

Processing power is the key attribute to the efficiency of any smart phone. Acting as the support beam for all the other hardware the processing unit is a very important piece of hardware. Having said that, let’s see how the two processors of these phones match up against one another. The Samsung Galaxy S2 wields a Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, which is supported with the Mali-400MP GPU, and runs alongside the Exynos chipset. This strong processor offers ample amounts of functionality to the smart phone; it is indeed a great processor. The HTC Evo 3D however bears a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, which is backed by the Adreno 220 GPU, and coupled with the Qualcomm MSM8660 chipset. Though there is no comparable difference between the two processors, the Samsung Galaxy S2 clearly has the stronger GPU. In regards to RAM allocation both these phones have the same amount of RAM; 1 GB. Clearly the similarities between these two phones in regard to processor functionality and power are too close to make a clear decision on a victor. Thus this section ends with a draw.

Storage Capacity:

The Samsung Galaxy S2 comes with two different packages of internal memory capacity. Either 16 GB or 32 GB worth of storage is allocated internally. In case a consumer buys the 16 GB option, further external memory upgrade is allowed through the usage of a microSD card up to 32 GB. The HTC Evo 3D however, comes with a meager 1 GB worth of internal memory that is subject to upgrade through the use of a microSD card to 32 GB. The clear victor is the Samsung Galaxy S2 which offers much more internal capacity then the HTC Evo 3D.

Dimensions and Display:

The dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S2 measure up to 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and the phone weighs in at an overall 116 grams. The HTC Evo 3D however measures up to 126 x 65 x 12.1 mm and weighs a significantly larger 170 grams.

In regards of display the HTC Evo 3D has a 3D LCD capacitive touch screen, which works with 16M colors. The resolution of the HTC Evo 3D maxes out at 540 x 960 pixels and its screen measures up to 4.3 inches. Clearly this is very impressive, the 4.3 inch screen and the 3D experience make for hours of entertainment. The Samsung Galaxy S2 however has a Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen, that also works on 16M colors. The resolution of the Samsung Galaxy S2 peaks out to 480 x 800 pixels and its screen size is the same as the HTC Evo 3D; 4.3 inches. In regards to crispness and entertainment the HTC Evo 3D takes the show, with a higher resolution and also offering a 3D experience the HTC Evo 3D steals the show in this regard.


The Samsung Galaxy S2 boasts an 8 MP camera, which works at 3264×2448 pixels, and is supported by LED flash. This camera allows for recording at 1080p at 30 fps in a very high HD format. The HTC Evo 3D has a standard battery, Li-Ion 1730 mAh which allows for up to 7hrs and 45 minutes of talk time while the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a standard battery, Li-Ion 1650 mAh which allows for up to 8hrs and 40 minutes of talk time. In regard to compensation of the batter with the other hardware of the phone, the Samsung Galaxy S2 seems to have used a weaker battery but still got out more power than the HTC Evo 3D. A very good move on part of Samsung as in this case as well, the balance tips in favor of the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Price in India: HTC Evo 3D is of approx Rs.26,000/- while Samsung Galaxy S 2 is of approx Rs.28,000/-

Final Winner:

Both phones exhibit exuberance in their respective fields. However the overall winner has to be the Samsung Galaxy S2 which edges out on the HTC Evo 3D on a number of occasions such as the more powerful camera, better battery compensation, as well as the better storage capabilities.
